Manager, Risk Management and Internal Audit

As a member of NTPC’s management team in a dynamic utility operating environment, the successful applicant will be responsible for creating and supporting a strong risk management framework through planning and executing risk assessments, internal audit and risk mitigation projects, internal control assignments and related projects. We are looking for a candidate with strong financial acumen, demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy, confidence based on job-knowledge, a positive attitude, excellent time management and organization skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities to meet strict deadlines.

Reporting to the CFO, the Manager, Internal Audit and Risk Management provides objective assurance and advisory services through scheduled and unscheduled audits.  In addition, this position is also responsible for the management, administration and provision of risk management including the management of the Corporation’s insurance program.

• Develop and maintain the Corporation's risk matrix. Work to reduce the Corporation's risk profile.
• Review and advise on contractual agreements to reduce and/or mitigate contractual risk.
• Negotiate and manage the Corporation's insurance portfolio.
• Develop and complete the Corporation's internal audit program.
• Undertake ad-hoc audits or investigations initaited by the CEO, CFO, or Board of Directors. 

• Degree in a business field (finance, accounting or economics) and five years of audit experience in an accounting firm or industry and/or progressive risk management experience. Equivalencies may be considered.
• Designation as a Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certifiied Internal Auditor (CIA), or Charted Professional Accountant (CPA). 
• Intermediate level proficiency with Excel and proven experience working with large volumes of data.
• Experience working in a government, Crown Corporation or utility environment is an asset.
• Strong proficiency with PowerPoint to prepare presentation materials.
• Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Experience with Dynamics Great Plains software is beneficial.

Salary for this position ranges from $63.47/hr-$79.33/hr. plus location and accommodation allowances of approximately $8,023 per annum. Relocation assistance is provided. This position is based in Hay River, NT and requires the successful incumbent to reside in Hay River, NT.
