Overview

Summer Student - Inuvik

 

The summer student will assist with general maintenance & labour tasks as assigned.

 

Responsibilities

  • Always work safely, adhere to all aspects of the NTPC Health & Safety and Environmental programs, comply with all rules & regulations, and continually practice health & safety while performing any duties.
  • General maintenance tasks include (but are not limited to):

    • garbage pickup and litter control,
    • general repairs,
    • painting,
    • general labour activities,
    • custodial,
    • general carpentry work,
    • yard maintenance,
    • assisting trades staff when needed,
    • washing vehicles,
    • organizing shop and plants,
    • other labour related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must be a current high school student (minimum of grade 10 and be age 16 or over) or current post-secondary student or enrolled in post-secondary for the Fall 2025 semester.
    • Proof of recent enrollment/experience in the SNAP program OR
    • proof of enrollment in a relevant trade school for the 2025-26 school year OR
    • previous operational student employment with NTPC (during the school year, previous summer jobs, etc.) OR
    • good academic standing in relevant courses (e.g. shop class, technical education, etc.)
  • Full Class 5 Driver's License is an asset.
  • Steel-toed boots required.
  • Team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

This casual position pays $30.82 per hour plus 10% vacation pay.  No housing or relocation assistance provided. This position is located in Inuvik, NT.
