Overview

NTPC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Revenue Metering Technician Summer Student to support the Revenue Metering team during the summer term. This position provides hands-on experience in electrical metering systems, meter testing, and smart metering infrastructure. The successful candidate will assist with fieldwork, meter maintenance, and inventory auditing across multiple communities serviced by NTPC.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Meter Technician(s) with the organizing, removal and scrapping of expired or decommissioned revenue meters.
  • Assist in testing faulty meters removed from service to determine condition and performance issues.
  • Perform firmware updates on revenue meters in the field under supervision.
  • Assist with revenue meter changes and smart metering infrastructure replacements.
  • Conduct audits of revenue meter inventory across all communities serviced by NTPC.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of testing results, inventory counts, and field updates.
  • Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Support general metering operations as required.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a recognized Electrical, Engineering Technology, or related post-secondary program.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems and safe work practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to use Office 365 programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid full Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to various communities serviced by NTPC.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Physically capable of lifting and handling electrical metering equipment.
  • CSA approved work boots are required.

This position pays $30.82 per hour plus 10% vacation pay.  No housing or relocation assistance provided.
